Update on HSCR 2 (Resolution to stop Executive Order 121)

Hey peoples,

Kunaan here. I'm writing this blog because we are running out of time.

On March 4th, the House Health and Social Services Committee heard testimony on HSCR 2, which would stop Executive Order 121. Executive Order 121 essentially splits the Department of Health and Social Services in the State of Alaska into two, one side focused on health and the other side focused on housing. This was not talked about with the people who receive any services and will take effect without a vote.

Also on March 4th, the House Health and Social Services Committee sent the resolution (HSCR 2) to the Senate Health and Social Services. I've been checking in every day to see when to testify. It's still not on the schedule. The chair and possibly the whole committee is sitting on this resolution so it won't move forward.

Please, call or write an email to demand that they give this resolution time before it runs out. If you are in one of the districts, let them know. If you will be impacted or have loved who will be, let them know. This split will impact thousands of Alaskans and we aren't a very populated state.

If you want to know more, listen to my episode with Andree and Robin.
